Happy Birthday, Ate Tet.

We wish you all the best and all the blessings today. Hope you have fun with your family. And may you be surrounded with love all the time, especially today. You deserve it.

If you remember, nu'ng umuwi ka dito last December, you were surprised na andami ko pang natatandaan tungkol sa elementary and high school mo. Maybe it's because I've always looked up to you. Siguro kasi ikaw 'yung kasabay kong lumaki and pinakamalapit 'yung age, and yet--compared sa akin--andami mo nang na-accomplish very early in life. You have always amazed me.

I must admit that it was tough growing up around you--you were smart, pretty and popular among your peers. And you always know what you want and how to get it. And you never tolerate any signs of weakness... or stupidity, as in my case. But if I'm correct that I'm taking it as a challenge, then I know I'd be set for life.

Getting to spend some time with you was the highlight of my trip to Japan--more than the sushi and the trips and the places I saw and even Disneyland. I am very thankful that our other Ate's gave me that opportunity. You left in 1986, and for more than twenty years, we hadn't spent as much time as we did two months ago. I'm very happy about that and I will always cherish that experience.

Anyway, thank you for the support, advice and for being a source of inspiration for all of us.

Joshua turned 7 today. Although it was celebrated on June 21, before her lola left for the US.

Syempre he was very happy. We had a huge party at Jollibee-Pulilan. Everybody was there. There were games, food and gifts. Even Jollibee himself dropped by to greet Joshua happy birthday.

However it was only for a day. Now he has to wait for another year for his next birthday, and about 14 years until he has another party that big.

Good thing he has school to get busy with, PC games to keep him entertained, and missing teeth to wait for.

Luneta Trip. December 17, 2007.

Kuya Knut, Ate Mhie, Ate Tet, Kuya Joey, Randell & Myra went to Luneta after leaving me in UP Diliman, and after visiting Fort Santiago and Intramuros.

Rap, Jem and I met them later in Luneta for dinner at a bayside restaurant, with a great view of the famous Manila sunset.

(The look on Myra's face is priceless. LOL.)

OP Family Reunion - Jem's Camera

Here's the second batch of pictures from our reunion last December. Although these are all from our trip to Hundred Islands, Pangasinan.

We left for Pangasinan on the early morning of December 26. We got there after about 5 or 6 hours. Although it was a long trip, we didn't get bored. We had fun along the way. (And we were eating nonstop while on the road.)

The long trip was worth it. We stayed on Governor's Island from December 26 - 28. It was beautiful and quiet, and the water was fantastic. Basta, it was one of the best vacations I've had.

We had breakfast at McDo-Pampanga on our way to Pangasinan. It pretty much set the mood for the rest of the trip (eateateat).

Picture-taking while the arrangements for our stay on Governor's Island were being finalized.

...And we made Jem watch over our stuff.

Boatride that would bring us to Governor's Island. Needless to say, everyone was pretty excited.

Okay, let me get this straight. Jem brought the cam. And she defied the unwritten rule that whoever brought the camera should be hardly in the pictures.

Sneak peek of the Hundred Islands. By this time, everyone was about to jump off the boat and swim towards the islands. Kidding.

That was one of the first islands we saw up close. That's me in the foreground. I was just faking my excitement. I mean, it wasn't my first time here anyway. (Hahaha! Kidding. That smile was as genuine as it could get.)

Great formation, right? But stop staring at it. Look at the rather colorful house in the distance. Yup, that was where we would be staying. (Feeling jealous yet?)

This, and the preceding pix, are just some of the islands that surround Governor's Island.

This is the beach beside the house where we stayed. The water was great, although there were lots of sharp rocks along the beach.

Okay, one was enough...

...but two? Really? LOL.

Apparently, Sadako doesn't come out of TV sets anymore.

This was the window in the living room overlooking some of the islands. We had coffee here, and siesta, and we read some books while listening to the waves hitting the rocks below (or our Ipods), and as you would see later, we took a lot of pictures of ourselves framed by this window with the sea and the islands in the background.

Or, if we weren't eating, we would be resting.

And then, eat again.

And rest some more.

Finally, we took to the beach. Have I said the water was great?

In front of the house, there was this ladder that led to a huge rock that they flattened so people could go down there and enjoy the view better. And so that Jem could have more pictures of herself :P

(I think I'll skip this one, too.)

Now, who between the two is the evil twin?

At the back of the house / cottage, there was a mountain. We explored it on the same afternoon that we got there. (On the second day of our stay here, we went to the top of the mountain. From there one can see the whole of Hundred Islands. But I'm getting ahead of myself. It will be on my future post.)

On the mountain (I think it's a hill. Anyways...) there was a crevice on the side that looked like a grotto. Another opportunity for picture-taking.

Oooy, sweet-sweet.

At twilight, all you could see was dark blue and black. I think it was magical. This and the following pictures were taken from the viewdeck in front of our cottage.

See that table on the lower right part of this picture? That was where we had our dinner. (I can't remember if we had breakfast and lunch there, too. Hmmm... Memory gap...) We had a great view while eating. What could be better than that?!

Belate happy birthday to Kuya Akira, who turned another year wiser last Wednesday.

Some of us are here today in Pulilan to celebrated Ina's birthday. I prepared some fruit salad, and Randell and Myra brought cake. Ian is still sleeping because he just got home from work, and apparently didn't get any sleep for the last couple of days.

I (from the Philippines) was having a conference call with Ate Dinah(from England), Ate Mhie (from the US) and Ate Tet (from Japan) on Saturday. It was actually fun. While I while growing up in Pulilan (a few years ago), I honestly didn't think we would come to think. I grew up with no electricity in the house, and now, everything and everyone is just a mouseclick away.

MANILA, Philippines -- The Singapore government has opened the door to Filipino students wishing to avail themselves of 120 full-time courses given in five government polytechnic schools that offer a three-year diploma program.

The grants include tuition of SG$10,340 per year and permission to work at part-time jobs. On graduation, the students must work for the government or a private firm in Singapore for three years at an average start-up salary of SG$1,800. They can also apply for permanent residence in the city-state.

Toward this end, CSC International Consulting, which has offices in Singapore, the Philippines and Canada will conduct a free one-day seminar on such topics as the Singapore government polytechnic grants, the Singapore employment pass certificate and the Canadian skilled worker employment visa.

The seminar will be held on Sept. 22 at Cityland Tower, Chino Roces Avenue (in front of Don Bosco), Makati City.

Interested parties may obtain more information or make reservations by calling 0916-325-8726.

New Beginnings

First off, I would like to apologize to everyone who celebrated their birthdays in April and May :P Connecting to the internet has become rather hard for me since I left my regular job at ABS-CBN. (Boohoo! No more free-internet!) Anyways, as soon as things settle down, I'm hoping to get my own DSL connection at my home.

Anyways, let us all congratulate those who have been blessed to go back to school / work this month: Jem, Rap, Angelus, Joshua, Kevin and Mayang.

Randell's contract expired several days ago, but he's hoping to get re-hired in the next couple of week.

Congratulations, too, to those who are starting a new chapter in their lives: Joseph, Jerome and Marilou are incoming freshmen at the Bulacan State University. And I will be handling a couple of classes at the University of the Philippines in Diliman--"Scriptwriting" and "Language and Grammar of Film." If all goes well, I might try being a full-time faculty next semester.

Congratulations, everyone.

got a call from ate mhie and ate tet a couple of hours ago. we didn't have the chance to talk much. apparently, ate tet was really tired and had to have some rest.

i created this blog where we could post messages for one another.

but the point really is to create some sort of a calendar and countdowns for the birthdays and anniversaries, etc, of each of us--as the name of the blog suggests.

this way, if we want to know what's been happening to one another, or who's going to add another candle to his / her cake, etc.

anyways, i need your help. i only know the birthdays of immediate family members. i need those of the extensions. please keep send them to me asap.

but let's not limit ourselves to birthdays. it would be great if everyone could be kept posted when it's somebody's anniversary, or when someone is graduating, or when my movie is coming out in the theaters (hehehe! i just had to mention that. sorry. :0)

so, there it is. let's keep this blog alive by visiting it often and contributing thoughts, infos, dates--practically anything under the sun.
